Filmmaker in Focus 2: Guy MADDIN
Canadian director Guy MADDIN is highly acclaimed across the globe as one of the most innovative filmmakers of contemporary cinema. His Tales from the Gimli Hospital and Archangel, when theatrically released in Japan, drew considerable attention as embodying a cult style reminiscent of early David LYNCH. MADDIN has continued to sophisticate his unique style, reaching fetishistic intensity and high artistic quality. In this program, we present five recent works (including shorts and mid-lengths) brimming with bizarre beauty and dazzling, bewitching appeal.
