Daniel SCHMID
Commemorating the great Swiss filmmaker Daniel SCHMID who passed away in August 2006, we will present 2 of his works, which have not been theatrically screened in Japan

Daniel SCHMID (1941-2006)

Born in 1941 in Flims, a village in the Swiss Alps. Studied at the Freie Universitat Berlin and the Deutsche Film- und Fernsehakademie Berlin (DFFB). Directed his first feature "Tonight or Never" in 1972. His subsequent "La Paloma" (74) was screened in the Cannes Film Festival's Directors' Fortnight, bringing him international recognition. Died on August 6, 2006. Also known for his opera direction. Other works include "Notre Dame de la Croisette" (81), "Hecate" (82), "Imitation of Life" (83), "Tosca's Kiss" (84), "Jenatsch" (87), "Off Season" (92), "The Written Face" (95) and "Beresina" (99).
