Ang Geck Geck Priscilla is a Singaporean filmmaker who graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the School of Art, Design and Media (ADM) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in 2012. Deeply committed to telling stories that give voice to the vulnerable, her work is grounded in empathy and the belief that cinema can touch lives, shift perspectives, and contribute to a kinder world. Over the past decade, Geck has directed a range of acclaimed short films and commercial projects for notable brands including OCBC Bank, POSB Bank, Hotel Jen Tanglin, and Mastercard Regional. Her filmmaking is characterised by emotional authenticity, carefully observed human behaviour, and a sensitivity toward the inner worlds of her characters. Her debut short film Broken Crayon—the first instalment of the Ah Girl trilogy—won the Best Short Film award at the Singapore Short Film Festival in 2013. The trilogy continued with Little Pigs and Happy Birthday, each expanding on the emotional universe of the same young protagonist. Geck is also an alumna of the prestigious Busan Asian Film Academy (AFA), where she trained as a directing fellow. Her feature-length debut, Ah Girl, further evolved from this trilogy and was awarded the Open SEA Fund Award in 2018 at the Southeast Asia Fiction Film Lab (SEAFIC), one of the region’s leading development platforms for emerging filmmakers. The project’s development highlighted her strong authorial voice and commitment to intimate, character-driven storytelling. In recognition of her contributions to filmmaking and the creative industry, Geck was appointed The NXT Head of Juries for The Crowbar Awards in 2019, overseeing the Film and Photography categories. Beyond narrative work, she has also directed episodic content, including multiple episodes of Mediacorp’s long-form series Once Upon A New Year’s Eve. In 2021, she created Another Day in Paradise, a short-form series exploring human vulnerability through dark comedy and emotional nuance. The series was nominated at Series Mania 2021 in the Short Form Competition category and subsequently travelled to several international festivals, marking another milestone in her growing international presence. Geck’s body of work reflects her ongoing dedication to telling stories that are intimate, socially conscious, and emotionally resonant. Whether through film, series, or commercial work, her creative mission remains consistent: to use storytelling as a way to support, uplift, and bring humanity to the forefront of the screen.
