We announced the screening lineup of TOKYO FILMeX 2024, which will be held from Nov. 19th – 26th. “About Dry Grasses” by Nuri Bilge CEYLAN will open the festival on Nov.22nd, and the closing film will be a digital remaster of a masterpiece by Wayne WANG, “Life is Cheap, But Toilet Paper is Expensive”.
In the TOKYO FILMeX Competition section, we present 8 films by the best-emerging filmmakers in Asia, and 5 of them will be directional debut feature films. A Special Performance of HAMAGUCHI Ryusuke’s “GIFT” will be presented in the Special Screening section, which is a film considered the origin of “Evil Does Not Exist” which won a Silver Lion at the Venice Film Festival. “GIFT” will be screened with a live performance by ISHIBASHI Eiko, the musician.

And prior to the main festival that starts on Nov.19th, we will hold a Pre-Event: Filmmakers’ Homecoming, at Human Trust Cinema Shibuya.
This screening event will present 12 films that were directed or produced by past participants of Talents Tokyo, the development program held concurrently with TOKYO FILMeX for the past 14 years.
