第59回ベルリン国際映画祭 開幕
第59回を迎えるベルリン国際映画祭のプログラムの全容が先月27日に発表された。同映画祭は2月5日から15日にかけて開催される。
プログラムの内容に関しては、個々の作品の国籍や監督名などから判断する限り、同映画祭の例年の傾向から大きく逸脱したものではないように見える。もちろんレトロスペクティブを除けば基本的に新作の映画が上映されるため、その意味では内容は完全に新しいわけだが、メインのコンペティション部門を始め、パノラマやフォーラムといった部門に関しても、部門間、あるいは部門内のプログラミングのバランスは、ほぼ例年通りに保たれているといっていいだろう。
その一方、(もしかしたらプログラムの枠組み以上に)今回の映画祭のポイントとなるのは、世界的な不況が本格化して以降、初めて開かれる大規模な国際映画祭であるということかもしれない。併設されるヨーロピアン・フィルム・マーケットの動向と共に、深刻化する現在の経済状況がどの程度映画の世界に影響を及ぼし、またこれから及ぼしていくのかということが、今回の映画祭を契機に、ある程度は明らかになってくると思われるからだ。
因みに、日本映画に関しては、今年は残念ながらコンペティション出品作はないが、パノラマ部門に『ぐるりのこと。』(橋口亮輔監督)、フォーラム部門に『精神』(想田和弘監督)、『無防備』(市井昌秀監督)、『Deep in the Valley 谷中暮色』(舩橋淳監督)、『愛のむきだし』(園子温監督)がそれぞれ選出された他、青少年向けの映画の部門であるジェネレーション部門にて、『そらそい』(監督:石井克人/オースミユーカ/三木俊一郎)が上映される予定だ。
また、昨年の東京フィルメックスで上映された作品としては、前述の『愛のむきだし』(渋谷ユーロスペースにて現在公開中)の他、審査員特別賞コダックVISIONアワードを受賞したソヨン・キム監督の『木のない山』がフォーラム部門にてヨーロッパ初上映される(また、キム監督と共にプロデューサーとして来日したブラッドリー・ラスト・グレイ監督の長編第2作『The Exploding Girl』も同じくフォーラム部門でプレミア上映されることも付記しておく)。
