YAMAMOTO Hyoe

Biography
Born in Japan, YAMAMOTO graduated from the Film Production program at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University in 1997. He received the Warner Bros. Film Production Grant for his thesis film A Glance Apart, wh ich won the Best Fiction Film Award at the New York Expo of Short Film and Video and aired on ARTE/ZDF (French and German television) and Cinefil Imagica (Japanese cable television). His subsequent short films screened at International Film Festival Rotter dam and Tribeca Film Festival. His first Japanese language short When I Become Silent, was screened at over 15 film festivals worldwide winning Special Jury Award at Tokyo International Gay & Lesbian Film Festival.

The Tokyo Culture Creation Project is a project that the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the Tokyo Metropolitan Foundation for History and Culture have been executing in collaboration with various arts-related organizations. The Project's objectives are to create and promote arts and culture that are unique to Tokyo, to develop children's rich sensibilities through arts and culture, and to create various local cultural focal points in Tokyo. The Project's activities include organization of various art events; facilitation of collaborative art programs between residents of Tokyo and artists; and operation of programs to provide children with the opportunity to experience arts and culture.
