Born in Seoul, South Korea in 1952. Graduated from Korea University of Foreign Studies majoring in Vietnamese. Made his film debut when he was 5 years old, and has been the one of the most popular actors in Korea ever since. Won the best actor award at the Asia-Pacific film festival in 1993 for his role in White Badge. He is the one of very few Korean actors who made a successful transition from a child prodigy to a mature adult actor. He is a five-time winner of the Baeksang Art Award (Best Actor) in Korea. Selected the Best Actor of the year in 1997 by the leading Korean film magazine weekly Cine21. Recent starring roles include Musa - the Warrior (2001), Last Witness (2001) and IM Kwon-Taek's Chihwaseon (2002).

Jean-Michel FRODON
France / Film Critic



Born in Paris in 1953. Before starting his career as a journalist and film critic at weekly publication Le Point (1983-1990), he had worked in many fields such as an educator of youngsters in the Paris' suburbs (1971-1981) and a professional photographer (1981-1985). Started writing for the French leading daily newspaper Le Monde in 1990, and has served as senior editor (cinema) since 1994. From 1998 to 2001, Mr. FRODON was in charge of a seminar at Ecole Normale Superieure (Ulm): The Body on Screen. He's enthusiastically organized many events, such as the international symposiums opening the 2000 and 2002 Cannes Film Festival's, and industry conference L'Industrie du reve dedicated to digital cinema etc. Also programmed the Open Air Summer Film Festival at La Villette, Paris in December, 2001. Founded an independent think-tank under the sponsorship of Le Monde and the Institut de Sciences Politiques de Paris, named "L'Exception, groupe de reflexion sur le cinema", where artists, philosophers, teachers, and cultural workers gather together and discuss the contemporary status of cinema and its possible integration with public action. Ann HUI
Hong Kong / Director



Born in Manchuria, China, spending most of her childhood in Hong Kong. Graduated from the Hong Kong University with a degree in English and Comparative Literature, going on to study at the London Film School. Worked in television in Hong Kong before making her directorial debut with the film The Secret (1979). With Boat People (1982), Ms. HUI received the Best Director prize at the Hong Kong Film Awards. In 1995 she directed the bitter-sweet comedy Summer Snow, which went on to win every possible Chinese film award, as well as the Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival. Her recent works include Eighteen Springs (1997), Ordinary Heroes (1999), and Visible Secret (2001). July Rhapsody (2001) is her latest film.

KUROSAWA Kiyoshi
Japan / Director



Jean-Michel FRODON
Born in Kobe, Japan in 1955. Started making independent films in 8mm while studying at the Rikkyo University. After graduating, he worked as an assistant director under many highly acclaimed directors including HASEGAWA Kazuhiko and SOUMAI Shinji. Joined the Director's Company, and made his commercial debut with Kandagawa Wars in 1983. Since the presentation of Cure at the Tokyo International Film Festival in 1997, MR. KUROSAWA has been invited to many prestigious international film festivals such as the Berlin Film Festival, the Venice Film Festival and the Toronto International Film Festival. Kairo (Pulse, 2001) was shown in "Un Certain Regard" at the Cannes Film Festival 2001, and awarded the FIPRESCI Critics' Prize. Jellyfish Alert (2002) is his latest film.

Amir NADERI
USA (born in Iran) / Director



Born in Abadan, Iran in 1945. After involved in filmmaking as a still photographer and an assistant director, he made his directorial debut with Khoda Hafez Rafig (Good Bye Friend) in 1971. In 1976 he directed Shakhte Iran (Made in Iran), filmed in New York. With The Runner (1985) and Water, Wind, Dust (1989), Mr. NADERI won the Grand Prize at the Festival des 3 Continents, and has gained international recognition. Moved to the United States, and made Manhattan by Numbers in 1993. Manhattan by Numbers was invited to the Venice Film Festival, and also commercially released here in Japan. A.B.C. Manhattan (1997) was selected for 'Un Certain Regard' section at the Cannes Film Festival. Marathon (2002) is his latest film.
