LEE Chang-dong
Korea / film director, writer
Born in 1954 in Daegu, Korea. Originally a novelist, LEE made his directing debut with "Green Fish" in 1996, gaining attention at many film festivals. His second film, "Peppermint Candy "(99), was selected for the Director's Fortnight section in Cannes. Third feature "Oasis "(2002) won him the Best Director prize in Venice and had its Japan premiere at the third edition of TOKYO FILMeX. From 2003-2004 LEE served as South Korea's Minister of Culture and Tourism, playing an important role in cultural policy. This year LEE returned to directing with his fourth feature, "Secret Sunshine." The film screened in competition at the Cannes Film Festival to great acclaim and lead actress JEON Do-yeon was awarded the Best Actress prize. "Secret Sunshine" has also been selected as Korea's official entry to the 80th Academy Awards' Foreign Language Film category. |

YAMAZAKI Yutaka
Japan / Cinematographer
Born in 1940. Graduated from Nihon University College of Art's Department of Cinema, and has subsequently worked as a film cameraman on commercials, television documentaries and more. Beginning with "Wonderful Life" in 1999, he has worked consecutively with KORE-EDA Hirokazu on "Distance" (2001), "Nobody Knows" (04), "Hana" (06), and his latest film "Aruite mo Aruite mo" to be released next year in Japan. Other film works include KAWASE Naomi's "Shara" (03) and SHIOTA Akihiko's "Canary" (2004). |

YUKISADA Isao
Japan / film director
Born 1968 in Kumamoto, Japan. In 1997, he debuted as the feature film director with "OPEN HOUSE." His second directorial film "Sunflower" (2000) got FIPRESCI Prize at the 5th Pusan International Film Festival. His 4th feature "Torch Song"(00) was screened in competition section at the TOKYO FILMeX 2000. He received many film awards including Director of the Year for Japan Academy Prize with "GO" (01). Other feature films include "Rock'n'Roll Mishin" (02), "A Day on the Planet" (03), "Crying out Love, in the Center of the World" (04), and "Spring Snow" (05). In 2006, he established a production label, Second Site, "Into the Faraway Sky"(07) is the first theatrical project for the new label. His latest film, "Closed Note," has also been released in Japan September 2007. |

Dorothee WENNER
Germany / director of Berlinale Talent Campus, Berlin International Film Festival
Born in 1961. She is a freelanced filmmaker and journalist based in Berlin. Currently she works as the director of the Berlinale Talent Campus/ Berlin International Film Festival. She has been on the selection committee of the International Forum of New Cinema since 1990 and serves as the Berlinale's special representative for India and sub-Saharan Africa. Her documentary film and books demonstrate her special expertise in Indian culture and film. Wenner also applies her competence to her role as a juror at international film festivals and in film funding institutions. |

Christian JEUNE
France / Deputy General Delegate at Cannes Film Festival
Born in 1961,Jeune translated more than 100 English-speaking films in French and has been working at the Festival de Cannes for the last 17 years. He initially joined the Festival in 1983 working at the press office before joining the Paris team in 1998 at the Regie des Films. In 1995, he became the Head of Films Department in charge of the pre-selection process and the selected films, closely working with Gilles J‚PACOB, first General Delegate then President of the festival, and Thierry FREMAUX, the General Delegate since 2001. Since 1997, he has been representing the Festival abroad and scouting films, more particularly in Asia regions he is visiting every year. |
