TOKYO FILMeX 2003 presents a retrospective of master Japanese director SHIMIZU Hiroshi (1903-1966), celebrating the 100th anniversary of his birth. All films in this section will be screened with English subtitles. A major force at Shochiku Studios before and during World War II, and a pioneer in independent film after the war ended, he made a total of 163 films.
