Professor STRINGFELLOW surgically removes a group of men and women's ability to speak and makes them live together in an experiment into how they will establish means of communication. At first an experiment to awaken telepathic ability, it takes an unexpected turn before long. CRONENBERG's debut feature film and his first shot on 35mm.

In the near future, there is an outbreak of a strange malady in which a froth-like secretion oozes from the mouths, noses, and ears of post-pubescent girls. Caused by a certain cosmetic, the secretion soon mutates into a deadly poison, but people seem to gradually become captivated by it. CRONENBERG's second film.
