Ordinary People
Introduction

The Philippines / 2016 / 107 min. / Director: Eduardo ROY Jr.

16-year-old Jane and her boyfriend, Aries, live on the streets of Manila. Making their livelihood primarily from pickpocketing, their lives are completely changed when Jane becomes pregnant. However, less than a month after their child is born, someone kidnaps the baby. The two do whatever it takes to get their child back.... The kidnapping of the lead characters' child in Eduardo ROY Jr.'s third feature film acts as an intermediary for vividly depicting Manila's intricate streetscapes and the street children who dwell within them. Upon winning a total of five awards, including Best Film, at the Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival, gateway to success for the Philippine independent film scene, the film was selected for the Venice Film Festival's Venice Days section where it won the Audience Award.
