Director: HUH Jong-ho
[Introduction]
Gun-ho, who became a cold-hearted debt collector after losing his son five years earlier, is diagnosed with terminal liver cancer. The only way he can avoid death is to undergo a transplant operation within 10 days. When he learns that female grifter Ha-yeon would make a compatible donor, he goes to see her just after she has been released from prison. She agrees to provide part of her liver on one condition: find the man who caused her imprisonment. Gun-ho succeeds in tracking him down, but Ha-jeon reneges on their deal and goes on the run. However, she falls into the clutches of a gangster who holds a grudge against her... This directorial debut from HUH Jong-ho is a well-paced action comedy starring two of South Korea's most accomplished actors, JUNG Jae-yeong ("Castaway on the Moon") and JEON Do-yeon ("Secret Sunshine"). Its gradual exposure of the darkness within Gun-ho is an intriguing development. The talent HUH displays here suggests he is on course to become a major figure in the South Korean film world. Screened at the Toronto International Film Festival.
